Don Gavin

Don Gavin is the Godfather of Boston Comedy—a legendary stand-up comedian, actor, and trailblazer who has been dominating stages for over four decades. Hailing from West Roxbury, Massachusetts, Gavin left his career as a high school teacher and guidance counselor in 1979 to pursue comedy. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of the original founders of the iconic Ding-Ho Comedy Club in Cambridge (and later Nick’s Comedy Club), venues that helped launch countless careers in the vibrant Boston comedy scene.

Known for his sharp observational style, rapid-fire delivery, biting sarcasm, and hilarious takes on everyday life, American culture, and human absurdity, Gavin has earned a reputation as a comedian’s comedian.

Recent appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience, Marc Maron’s WTF podcast and Bill Burr’s podcast add to his long list of TV and film credits which include David Letterman, It's All Relative, Tough Crowd, Evening at the Improv, Roast of Denis Leary, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist and memorable roles in films like Shallow Hal, Fever Pitch, and Monument Ave. Still performing strong and releasing new material including his album Live With a Manhattan.
